Joanna Róg
dietitian / psychodietitian
I am a dietitian and a psychodietitian. I gained my clinical experience at the Department of Psychiatry and the Mental Health Outpatient Clinic of Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Lublin, providing individual nutritional consultations to patients. I cooperate with the 1st Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Early Intervention at the Medical University of Lublin, where I carried out my doctoral research on the role of omega-3 fatty acids in schizophrenia.
As a member of a research team, I have participated in numerous scientific projects assessing the importance of nutritional factors in mental disorders, including the SANGUT Study clinical trial evaluating the effectiveness of diet and probiotic supplementation in depression. I am an academic lecturer, teaching Psychodietetics at the Medical University of Lublin, and a member of the editorial teams of BMC Psychiatry and Current Problems of Psychiatry.
I am a **co-author of numerous scientific and popular science articles** published in Polish and international journals, as well as a member of scientific societies, including the International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Research, the Polish Society of Lifestyle Medicine and the Polish Psychiatric Association.
Ketogenic metabolic therapy
I specialise in ketogenic metabolic therapy, particularly in the treatment of schizophrenia and other mental health conditions, as part of an integrative, evidence-informed approach to psychiatric care. My work draws on emerging research in metabolic psychiatry, including clinical evidence suggesting that a well-structured ketogenic diet, implemented under professional supervision and alongside standard treatment, may support metabolic health, symptom improvement, and in some cases a reduction in antipsychotic medication, with reports of sustained remission of schizophrenia.
In my clinical work, I strongly support the personalisation of therapy. I value an interdisciplinary approach to health problems and cooperation with other specialists, as this allows therapeutic outcomes to be strengthened. At Magwise, I develop an individualised nutritional therapy plan and, together with the patient, monitor its progress.
My particular areas of clinical interest include:
- depression, especially treatment-resistant depression (i.a. anti-inflammatory diet)
- bipolar affective disorder
- ADHD/ADD
- anxiety disorders
- autism spectrum disorders
- eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder)
- schizophrenia (ketogenic diet)
