Neurostimulation

The Neurostimulation Lab at the Magwise Medical Center is one of the best facilities of this type in Europe.

Our experience

As of 2019, we have been one of the first clinics in Poland to systematically implement non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) into clinical practice. Our Neurostimulation Lab is equipped with three renowned systems for repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and the only one in Poland - Neurolith® - system for transcranial pulse stimulation (TPS) from the Swiss company STORZ Medical.

Further, we have introduced Neurofeedback therapy and a full panel of EEG and QEEG tests. We are one of the few to use Brain Mapping- quantitative EEG (QEEG) testing to personalise treatment, including more precise selection of the TMS protocol.

We also offer deep brain stimulation (DBS) electrode programming. The qualification for neurostimulation therapy is handled by a team of psychiatrists and neurologists, who are constantly improving their qualifications and gaining knowledge by attending international specialist conferences.

The neurostimulation team combines the expertise of psychiatrists, a child psychiatrist, and neurologists. Our work is supported by a neuroscientist who provides the theoretical foundation. The smooth running of each session is taken care of by a qualified team of electroradiologists accredited by the Polish Society of Clinical Neurophysiology. Patients are under the professional care of a medical doctor and psychologist during the therapy.

Our therapies

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS, rTMS)

TMS therapy has become our hallmark. We performed our first transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment in July 2019. Since then, our clinic has provided a TMS treatment for more than 1,000 patients, performing a total of tens of thousands of rTMS therapies. We consider ourselves both experts in this field and pioneers in the implementation of this method in Poland.

Magwise is the largest facility providing TMS therapy in the country, which allows us to offer attractive prices. TMS stimulation has firmly established itself in medicine, becoming a full-fledged treatment option for many psychiatric and neurological conditions. Our ambition is to perform rTMS treatment at the state-of-the-art level.

Our therapies

Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS®)

TPS therapy is a cutting-edge and innovative treatment method that we introduced as the first clinic in Poland in 2022. More than 100,000 TPS therapy sessions have been performed worldwide to this date in a total of 43 countries. Shockwave technology has been developed decades ago by the Swiss company STORZ Medical. This solution is distinguished by its exceptional depth of stimulation, which in the case of TPS reaches up to 8 cm. Pulse stimulation is used in many fields of medicine, including urology, cardiology, orthopaedics, dermatology, sports medicine, neurology and psychiatry.

Our therapies

Neurofeedback (EEG-Biofeedback)

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive therapeutic technique that helps modify brain activity through self-regulation. By providing real-time feedback on EEG signal changes in an accessible way, it trains patients to consciously influence their brainwaves. In psychiatric treatment, neurofeedback aids in regulating abnormal neural activity, alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety while improving mood and overall functioning. For individuals with ADHD, it enhances attention control and reduces impulsivity. Beyond clinical applications, neurofeedback is also used for neuroenhancement, sharpening cognitive functions such as memory and concentration, ultimately boosting productivity and efficiency in daily life.

DIAGNOSTICS

EEG test

EEG (electroencephalography) is a method of measuring the electrical activity generated by the brain. It is a non-invasive procedure in which electrodes are placed on the patient's scalp and the electrical signals generated by neurons in the brain are recorded and analysed. EEG test can help to diagnose and monitor a range of neurological conditions, such us: epilepsy or sleep disorders.

DIAGNOSTICS

VEEG (Video-EEG)

VEEG (or more commonly known as VEEG monitoring) is an advanced EEG diagnostic procedure that combines electroencephalography (EEG) technology with video recording. It is a particularly helpful tool in the diagnosis of epilepsy because it allows simultaneous monitoring of the bioelectrical activity of the brain and video recording of the patient's activity.

VEEG is superior to standard EEG in several cases, particularly when diagnosing epilepsy and other paroxysmal neurological disorders. Unlike a routine EEG, which records brain activity for a short period (typically 20–40 minutes), VEEG allows for prolonged monitoring, often lasting hours or even days. This extended recording increases the chances of capturing and analyzing abnormal brain activity that may not occur during a short EEG session. Additionally, the synchronized video recording helps differentiate epileptic seizures from other conditions, such as psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES), fainting spells, or movement disorders. VEEG is also beneficial for assessing nocturnal seizures and evaluating the effectiveness of epilepsy treatment by providing more comprehensive data on seizure frequency and characteristics.

DIAGNOSTICS

QEEG - Brain Mapping

QEEG (quantitative electroencephalography), or Brain Mapping, is an advanced technique for analysing the electrical activity of the brain, enabling detailed functional mapping. Unlike a traditional EEG (a clinical examination analysed by a neurologist), QEEG provides quantitative data on the power, distribution and proportion of different waves in different areas of the brain. This makes it possible to identify abnormalities precisely, which supports the diagnostic process and allows therapies such as neurofeedback or transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to be tailored individually. In addition, QEEG makes it possible to monitor the effectiveness of the applied treatment, providing objective data on changes in brain function. At Magwise Medical Centre, QEEG testing is an integral part of a personalised approach to therapy, providing precise diagnosis and effective treatment planning.
