Błażej Nowak
Neurosurgeon
I am a neurosurgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of:
- cerebrovascular diseases, including intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM), and arteriovenous fistulas,
- Tumours of the central nervous system, including brain tumours (gliomas, metastases), skull base tumors (meningiomas, cranial nerve schwannomas), and orbital tumours.
I use modern, minimally invasive techniques, such as:
- microsurgery – precise procedures performed with a surgical microscope,
- endovascular treatment – procedures performed through blood vessels, allowing for non-invasive interventions.
Experience
I completed my neurosurgical training at renowned medical centres:
- Neurosurgery Clinic of the National Medical Institute in Warsaw,
- Neurosurgery Department of the Western Hospital in Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
I have undertaken international fellowships at leading neurosurgical centres worldwide:
- Switzerland (Basel) – paediatric neurosurgery,
- USA (Barrow Neurological Institute, Arizona) – cerebrovascular neurosurgery and skull base surgery,
- USA (University of California, San Francisco) – advanced techniques in cerebrovascular disease treatment,
- Finland (University of Helsinki) – microsurgical treatment of vascular and skull base disorders.
Research Activity
I worked at the Department of Restorative Neurobiology at the Mossakowski Medical Research Institute (Polish Academy of Sciences) from 2017 to 2022, where I researched:
- the regenerative potential of mesenchymal stem cells in brain ischaemic stroke models,
- new approaches to delivering drugs intra-arterially to brain tumours.
My Approach to Treatment
I follow the principle of maximum effectiveness with minimal invasiveness. My approach focuses on modern techniques that help:
- reduce hospital stay duration,
- minimize the risk of complications,
- accelerate patient recovery (Fast-track surgery).
If you have any questions about diagnosis or treatment, I am here for you.
